A little history of the site
A long time ago I discovered when searching on the internet that there is still very little in English about geisha on the web, and even less of that is reliable information.
I put together a small webpage with some essays I wrote at the time and despite lack of regular updates the site still remains to be one of my most popular web projects to date.
Many years on the web has changed and I have grown up with it. In the intervening time my interest in geisha has never wained and I have been lucky enough to afford multiple trips to Japan to indulge my interest.
This new version of my site (the old one is here for reference) is designed to bring some of my findings over the recent years to the web.
Why did you write this site?
I am what one might call an "enthusiastic hobbyist" when it comes to geisha history and study. I do not work in anthropology or related fields and am an IT professional by trade. Nonetheless I do own and regularly read a plethora of material on geisha and love to create interesting content for the web.
Do you make money off this site?
No I have a full time job that pays my bills, including for hosting this website. I have added advertisements and affiliate programs to the current version of this website to help pay the related costs associated with the site.
Why don't you have a social section of the site?
I understand that the world today is all about Social Networking and web 2.0 however to administer and maintain a web community takes more commitment than I am ablet o offer this project. If you wish to become involved in a lively geisha community please visit the forums at Immortal Geisha
Can you help me with my project?
Unfortunately I work a full time job and also have a number of other commitments outside work, I don't often have time to assist with queries about the content of this site or school projects.

I am often asked to provide credits for my work in relation to school projects or link exchanges. I am more than happy for you to reference my website however please remember that I have spent significant time research, writing and designing these pages and cite references as appropriate.
